to the official website of Memphis Orchid Society!
The Memphis Orchid Society brings together people interested in orchids, promotes orchid culture and encourages all orchid activities of interest to the hobbyist, including holding and participating in orchid shows. Our members are diverse (from under 14 to over 80 years old) and include home makers, teachers, truck drivers, doctors and retirees. Most grow their orchids on the windowsill, many have their own greenhouses. Our monthly meetings are highlighted by lectures from guest speakers covering a wide range of topics concerning orchid culture, display and conservation.
Other actvities include field trips to see native orchids, visits to area orchid growers, plant auctions and our annual Holiday Party. We are a chartered non-profit corporation, have over 60 households as members and have an elected Board of Directors. |

The Memphis Orchid Society will host its 28th Annual Show and Sale at the Memphis Botanic Gardens 16-18 May 2008. Commercial growers from 6 states are expected to bring thousands of orchids for sale plus orchid exhibits displaying hundreds of orchids will be provided by orchid societies from 5 staes.
Competitive judging of the hundreds of entries will be performed by official judges of the American Orchid Society who have committed to attending the show and thereby accrediting it as an officially sanctioned show.
Free parking and free admission. Hours are noon to 5:00 p.m Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m on Saturday, and noon to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday.
