The
Memphis Orchid Society brings together people interested in
orchids, promotes orchid culture and encourages all orchid
activities of interest to the hobbyist, including holding
and participating in orchid shows. Our members are diverse
(from under 14 to over 80 years old) and include home
makers, teachers, truck drivers, doctors and retirees. Most
grow their orchids on the windowsill, many have their own
greenhouses.
Our monthly meetings are highlighted by lectures from guest
speakers covering a wide range of topics concerning orchid
culture, display and conservation. Other actvities include
field trips to see native orchids, visits to area orchid
growers, plant auctions and our annual Holiday Party. We
are a chartered non-profit corporation, have over 60
households as members and have an elected Board of
Directors.
